The Salvation Army Kickoff Event

Please join us on Saturday, November 2, 2019 for the official Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff event to be held at the Strack & Van Til Food Market at 1515 U.S. Hwy. 41 (at the corner of U.S. Hwy. 30) in Schererville, Indiana. The Kickoff will begin at 10:00 am and end at 2:00 pm, and will feature “Reggy” the official mascot to The Mascot Hall of Fame followed by the Jolly Old Elf himself, Santa Claus. Hot chocolate and other treats will be served as well.  

Every Holiday Season beginning the first week in November, the familiar sound of a ringing bell and sight of Red Kettles can be heard and seen in the entrances and exits of major retailers throughout the United States. The Red Kettle Campaign is the single largest annual fundraiser for The Salvation Army, last year raising $346,000 for Lake County, Indiana humanitarian services alone. Some of the major retailers who partner with The Salvation Army of Lake County for its Red Kettle Campaign include Strack & Van Til Food Markets, Jewel-Osco, Walmart, Walgreens, Cabela’s, J.C. Penney, Big Lots and Macy’s. 

The fundraising goal for the 2019 Red Kettle Campaign for Lake County is $400,000. The funds raised will remain in Lake County to serve its residents in need, providing services such as Food Pantry and Hot Meals, Homelessness Prevention, After-School and Summer Character Development Programs for Children and Youth, Residential Alcohol and Drug Addiction Rehabilitation, and much more.
