Munster High School was recently awarded Silver Medal status by U.S. News and World Report. U.S. News recognized Munster High School as the 5th best public high school and the 7th best high school overall in the state. The rankings are announced each year in May by U.S. News after combing through the academic records of nearly 20,500 schools nationally.
In order to be recognized schools must meet a benchmark for graduation rate, demonstrate excellence in both English and Mathematics relative to their peers, and demonstrate that their students are prepared for college level coursework. Munster high school’s graduation rate of 97% and college readiness index of 47.9 propelled them to a national ranking as the 881st best school in the nation. Speaking about the award, MHS principal Mike Wells had this to say, “Munster High School is proud of the partnership between our students, faculty, and parents. The fact that all three work toward the same common goal is why we are perennially in the top ten in the state.”
