Few organizations in Northwest Indiana were given as much reason to celebrate this year as Hannah’s Hope! This Portage based nonprofit has been making strides to help all children with special needs reach their fullest potential.

From their many events to the opening of their highly anticipated all-inclusive playground, take a look back at the many amazing milestones from this local nonprofit.

The Porter County Schools participated in a friendly competition early in 2017! Schools collected around 2.6 million pop tabs to benefit the Ronald McDonald House!

Getting-to-Know-Hannahs-Hope-01 Hannah’s Hope’s Dream for a Playground Close to Reality
It was March when the Hannah’s Hope team was able to officially announce that their dreams of an all-inclusive playground were going to be a reality. This dedicated crew worked non-stop to create a plan, fundraise, and find the right equipment that would encourage all children to play together.

April brought the nonprofit $14,934 closer to their playground dreams when Castle Subaru made a large donation for the third year in a row after their “Share the Love” event.

For the 5th year in a row, families flocked to the annual family picnic. With great food, sensory activities, and a whole lot of fun, the event brought many together to celebrate the summer.

The Brassie Golf Club in Chesterton was packed during the July Golf Outing for Hannah’s Hope. This sold out event raised funding for their Equipment Assistance Program, which helps families of children with special needs purchase items they need, as well as some money for the playground!

On July 25th, Hannah’s Hope and representatives from around the community were able to celebrate by presenting a $248,700 check to Sinclair Recreation, officially purchasing the equipment necessary for the all-inclusive playground.

Years of tireless fundraising and dedication created the opportunity, and in early September, Hannah’s Hope broke ground on the site of their all-inclusive playground. The ceremony marked a big milestone for the nonprofit, as their dreams became one step closer to reality.

October celebrated the much anticipated grand opening for Hannah’s Hope’s all-inclusive playground. Attended by members of the community, volunteers, and city officials, the ribbon cutting revealed this milestone park and gave children of all abilities a reason to smile.

To wrap up the year Hannah’s Hope held their annual Craft and Vendor Fair at the Portage High School. With a cookie crawl, kids and canvas, and an appearance from Santa himself, the event served as a wonderful way to wrap up a successful year for the organization.
