Two Northwest Indiana high school basketball stars received even more accolades from this year’s success, this time on a national level.
USA Today selected East Chicago Central’s Damien Jefferson and Griffith’s Tremell Murphy to the American Family Insurance ALL-USA Indiana Boys Basketball team.
Jefferson, a 6’4” Senior who averaged 26.1 PPG this year, was selected to the First Team, while Murphy, a 6’5” Forward, was selected to the Second Team.
Both were recognized for not only their personal accomplishments, but also for helping lead their team to postseason success this year. Jefferson led the Cardinals to their first sectional championship since 2008, while Murphy helped the Panthers move all the way to Semi-State.
Jefferson and Murphy will become teammates this summer as members of the IndyStar Indiana Boys All-Stars and square off against the Kentucky Boys All-Stars starting on June 7.
