With last Tuesday being the deadline to vote, politics has taken over my school. Quite a few of my friends are working the polls, advocating for their candidate of choice and of course voting. And while the national elections are always talked about, the local elections are generally shrugged off by my generation. This shouldn’t be the case. If anything, local elections have a closer to home impact, and as citizens, we should take pride in our communities. Last year, Josh Huddlestun ran for the 2nd District City Council seat and has been serving the Hobart area since.

For over a decade, Thomas Edison Jr./Sr. High School was graced with the presence and musical prowess of Mr. James Wasmundt, who, as director of Edison’s Marching and Concert bands, led the small school to victory in many musical performance competitions, among various individual achievements. He was loved by the students and even won teacher of the year for the 2015-2016 school year.

As a mom of a special needs high school freshman I was a little worried of how my daughter would fit in. She has an amazing older brother that is a senior and I've had comfort knowing he is always looking out! Two weeks ago she was in tears as some boys were not so kind to her. Sadly, we have gone through this before and talk with her about strength and courage to be yourself! Just last week I was sent a picture and video of a young man, a handsome sweet senior, asking my daughter to the homecoming dance.

August is a bittersweet time at Andrean High School. The graduates of the class of 2016 begin moving away for college, but the gap they leave is soon replaced by a crowd of eager, apprehensive freshmen.
