On Friday, Methodist Hospitals hosted a community baby shower on their Northlake Campus for pregnant mothers and mothers with infants up to six months old. The event, called “Baby Steps”, featured community groups, private retailers and healthcare professionals who offered families and expecting mothers information on resources available to them as well as prizes and refreshments.

Symphony of Dyer is one of the newest medical resorts in Northwest, Indiana. They offer senior living apartments and medical resorts for rehabilitation care. According to one recent medical resort patient who has now recovered, Symphony of Dyer was a place of refuge.

Dancing, for many, is an easy start towards a healthier life. Whether it be line dancing, Zumba, or freeform dancing, it’s easy to move to the beat - especially when doing it with friends. Franciscan Alliance had all of that mind - and then some - for their annual Day of Dance. On Sunday at Merrillville’s Radisson Hotel hundreds of women took the chance to dance, get free health screenings, listen to a few seminars, and do a bit of shopping.

Dozens of pink pinwheels were blowing in the wind as Porter Health Care System staff, administration, and local breast cancer survivors gathered outside the main entrance of Porter Regional Hospital on Wednesday afternoon to “Blow Away Breast Cancer.” Survivors shared their stories with the group, emphasized the importance of routine mammograms and thanked the staff and physicians at Porter Regional Hospital who aided in their treatment and recovery.
