Bob Franko’s road to President and CEO of VNA of Northwest Indiana has been paved with professional excellence in healthcare and pinnacled with a very personal experience with hospice care. Before joining VNA of NWI in January this year, Franko a Northwest Indiana native, was Vice President for Development and Marketing for Porter-Starke Services, where he worked from 1996 to 2010. He also served as Marketing Vice President and National Training Coordinator for Cherokee Health Systems in Knoxville, Tenn., for six years. Franko earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Business Administration degrees from Purdue University. In this edition of Leadership Life, Franko shares how the experience of seeing his father through hospice care helped solidify the importance of the hospice mission for him, and how not-for-profits in the healthcare world must find that healthy balance of business and mission-minded leaders.
