The holiday season is in full swing, and that means fun activities for the whole family to enjoy are coming up, and trust us, you don’t want to miss them.
The City of Crown Point has a calendar full of events that fun through the fall and winter seasons to keep community members active and entertained. Here are some we’re especially excited about:
Veteran’s Day Ceremony - November 11, at 10 a.m.
Crown Point will be celebrating veterans on the east steps of the courthouse with a special ceremony.
Wine & Canvas Painting Class Thanksgiving Themed - November 13, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Does the holiday season get you feeling a little artsy? Enjoy an evening filled with painting and sipping on wine at the Recreation Center at Bulldog Park! The acrylic painting class is open to all stages of painters and will help you create your very own Thanksgiving-themed work of art to take home and display to all those holiday visitors. Cost is $40 for Crown Point residents and $50 for non-residents. You can register for the class by calling 219-661-2272.
Thanksgiving Cornucopia Arrangement Class - November 20, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
With the help of Rosemary Heritage Flowers, the Crown Point Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a flower arranging class to help you create a beautiful cornucopia just in time for Thanksgiving celebrations. Cost is $35 for CP residents and $43.75 for non-residents. You must register by Nov. 19. by calling 219-661-2272. The class will be held at the Recreation Center at Bulldog Park.
Tree & Tank Lighting Ceremony - November 29, from 5:30p.m. / 6:15 p.m.
Light up your Holiday season and start it off right with the city’s two lighting ceremonies! The tree lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Courthouse while the Tank lighting ceremony starts at 6:15 p.m. at Goldsborough and N. Main St.
Santa Letters - November 1 through December 9
Make your child’s Christmas extra-special this year with a letter from Santa! Register for your kiddos to receive a eprsonalized letter from Santa by stopping into the Parks office (183 S West St) to fill out the necessary form. You can also find the form online at https://www.crownpoint.in.gov/egov/apps/document/center.egov?view=item;id=1198. Registration ends on December 9, and letters will be delivered before Christmas Eve.
Winter Market - Nov. 30, 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Come out to the Bulldog Park Community Rooms and peruse all of the goodies offered at the Winter Market provided by great local vendors! It’s an excellent event to find that unique gift for someone special. Santa Parade - November 30, 10:00 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Have you heard the #GreatNews? Santa Claus is coming to town. And he’ll be doing it with the pomp & circumstance he deserves during the Santa Parade. Starting at Pointe Plaza, the parade will make its way to the Courthouse Square. Santa has even agreed to stick around and visit with children and families for the afternoon.
Santa Visits the Courthouse - Nov. 30, Dec. 1,7,8,14,15,21, & 22 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Santa Claus will be visiting the courthouse several times throughout December making for a great photo opportunity. He can be found in the lower level of the Courthouse, so grab your camera and stop in to say hello and snap a photo!
Christmas Silk Flower Arrangement Class - December 4, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Try your hand at silk flower arranging with the help of Rosemary Heritage Flowers. The Christmas themed flower arrangement will make the perfect addition to your holiday decor. The cost is $35 for residents and $43.75 for non-residents. Registration is due by Dec. 2, and you can register by calling 219-662-2272. The class will be held at the Bulldog Park Recreation Center.
Tour of Lights - Dec. 9 - 14th, 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Crown Point has some of the best holiday light displays around and what better way to see them than the Crown Point Tour of Lights? Take a trolley ride through the city and hear the stories behind some of the brightest displays. Registration is needed and is open now. Call 219-662-3290 to register.
Wine & Canvas Painting Class Holiday Themed - December 18, 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Baby, it’s cold outside, so take to the indoors and warm yourself with some wine while you let your creativity soar. December’s acrylic painting class will focus on a holiday theme. The cost is $40 for CP residents and $50 for non-residents. You can register for the class up until Dec.16 by calling 219-661-2272. The class will be held at the Bulldog Park Recreation Center.
Kid’s New Years Eve Party - Dec. 31, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Let your kids kick-off the new year at Bulldog Park with a fun-filled event that will delight your children! Cost is $5, and registration is required. Call 219-662-3290 to do so.

Hockey
Co-Ed Developmental Hockey Program - Dec. 2 through Feb. 29
The Crown Point Parks & Recreation Department has created an 11-week program for children ages 5 -18 to learn all the fundamentals of hockey, from skating and shooting to passing and puck handling. Adult Hockey Draft League - Dec. 2 through Feb. 26
If you love hockey and are over 18, join the Adult Hockey Draft League! You must be a USA Hockey registered member to play and can register here: https://www.usahockey.com/usahockeyregistration. Registration for the league ends November 24, so register today for your spot. Pickup/Rat Hockey
On Sunday’s from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the ice skating rink at Bulldog Park turns into a pickup/rat hockey rink! Registration is required the day before the puck drops, and there must be a minimum of 15 players. Call 219-661-2271 to register or for more information.

Open Skating
The Bulldog Park Ice Skating Rink is always a fun winter-time activity for the whole family to participate in. Opening mid-November, the rink will be available for open skate Thursday evenings from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday evenings from 4:00 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The hours are subject to change regarding the weather, so double check the city’s website before heading out!
Admission is $3 per skater and $2 for seniors. Skates are available for rent at $3 and skate assists are $3/hr.
Ice Skating Lessons
For those looking to advance their ice skating skills, lessons are available for individuals ages 3+. Lessons take place on Mondays and Wednesdays from November 11 - 27 at 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. The cost for Crown Point residents is $125.00, and $156.25 for non-residents. If you don’t have your own skates, no worries, rental skates are provided!
